In 2000-2009 “Institute for Retraining and Professional Development” took part in the following international projects and grants: -in the project “Prevention and Elimination of Emergencies” together with Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

 

Main results of the project - Institute has been able to position itself as an international training center, the hostel for 190 students was built, the sector of marketing was created, built and equipped the instructional complex for the preparation of gas and smoke protectors, laying of fiber-optic communication line to the Institute been started.

- under the IAEA Project RER/9/064 “Harmonization and strengthening of regional system of emergency response to nuclear accidents” Institute’s workers took part in a seminar in Kishinev, Moldova, on the practical response to malicious acts involving radioactive materials; - within the framework “Partnership for Peace” Institute’s workers took part in courses " Management. Control and coordination in international search and rescue operations " in Shevde, Sweden; - under TACIS project “Strengthening of regional potential on prevention and response to chemical accidents with a threat of transboundary consequences in Belarus- Latvia-Lithuania region” for the period of 2008-2010 in the Institute were trained 30 rescuers from Lithuanian Republic and 88 rescuers from the Republic of Latvia under the program "Hazardous material incidents response". Furthermore, in accordance with paragraph 12 of the draft taken part in organizing a regional seminar on "Rescuers training and professional development in the field of emergency elimination on chemically dangerous objects" on the base of the Institute in October 2009; - in a joint project “Reducing risks in urban zones” with the Swedish Rescue Services Agency; - In the joint Belarus-Azerbaijan working group on cooperation in emergencies prevention and response; -in the implementation of an intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in emergencies prevention and elimination with Ministry of ES of Ukraine; -in the meeting of TACIS experts conducted by SRI FS and ES, to prepare technical documentation for the purchase of equipment for the calibration of dosimetric devices; - in the seminar “Assistance in modernization of the repair and calibration workshop of dosimetric control devices” under the project BE/RA/04 “Support in improving the regulatory legal basis and technical assistance in the field of radiation protection and emergency preparedness”. -in the meeting of TACIS experts conducted by SRI FS and ES, to prepare technical documentation for the purchase of equipment for the calibration of dosimetric devices; - in the seminar “Assistance in modernization of the repair and calibration workshop of dosimetric control devices” under the project BE/RA/04 “Support in improving the regulatory legal basis and technical assistance in the field of radiation protection and emergency preparedness”. - within the framework of the EU project LLB-1-022 «Improving civil protection systems’ transboundary cooperation in the field of emergency management of natural disasters in the regions of Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus» from February 20 till 24, 2012 5 representatives of the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia and 5 representatives of Fire and Rescue Service of Vilnius district of Lithuania have passed “Ecological Emergency Response Management” training course. - As part of the EС Project LLB-2-247 «Cooperation in the civil protection systems for disasters response related to the transportation of dangerous goods in the border region of Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus" 3 experts of the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia and 9 representatives of the Department of Fire Safety and Rescue with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania were trained on "Hazardous goods transportation accidents response" from 10 to 21 March 2014.
