Cooperation between the International Civil Defence Organisation and the Institute started in 2010 and is successfully continuing.
In 2010 the group of representatives of ICDO countries have passed training on «Hazardous materials incidents response» training course, in 2011 on «Response to the chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological substances-caused incidents» Training Course according to the guidelines of the NATO Committee on Civil Emergency Planning and Civil Protection SCEPC 11 participants have been trained.
In 2012 16 ICDO representatives were trained on “«Response to the chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological substances-caused incidents» Training Course according to the guidelines of the NATO Committee on Civil Emergency Planning and Civil Protection SCEPC” and “Training of specialists on management of regional emergency situations” Training Course. From 22 April to 7 May 2013 the Institute had performed training of 12 ICDO-members representatives on "Monitoring and forecasting of emergency situations " and "Organization of measures to protect the population and territories from emergency situations" educational programs. In the frameworks of training the Institute was visited by representatives of the ICDO Permanent Secretariat - Director of Training Mrs.ValerieLoh and the Head of the International Cooperation Mr.BelkassemElketrussi who were get acquainted with educational capability and took part in the ceremony of graduation. On June 8, 2015 the Institute hosted the visit of General Secretary Vladimir Kuvshinov and Director of International Cooperation Department Saltanat Tashmatova who discussed the main activities of the organization and plans of cooperation with Belarus in the oncoming years with the staff of the Institute.
In 2014, in cooperation with the ICDO the instructor of "Fire rescue equipment" Chair Irina Shinkarenko participated in "Winter Mountain Rescue Training", held in Tbilisi, Georgia, March 09 - 20 2014.
In 2015 cooperation with the ICDO have been effectively continuing. Instructor’s assistant captain of internal service Dmitry Sieminski took part in the ICDO "Mountain rescue" training course held in Sadovoe, Kyrgyz Republic in July 26 -August 09 2015.
The Institute had trained 2 groups of ICDO States Parties representatives:
- at “Rescue and firefighting operations on aircrafts and civil aviation facilities (in accordance with Standards and Recommendations of International Civil Aviation Organization)” (Train-The-Trainer) from August 31 till September 11– 9 participants, (representatives of the State of Kuwait , the State of Palestine, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Ghana, the Republic of Iraq, the Republic of Moldova, the Federal Republic of Nigeria);
- at “Responding to incidents involving chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear substances (in accordance with recommendations of NATO Civil Emergency Planning and Civil Protection Committee)” (Train-The-Trainer) from September 21 till October 02 – 6 participants (representatives of the State of Palestine, Arab Republic of Egypt, , the Kyrgyz Republic, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Iraq, the Federal Republic of Nigeria).
On July 8, 2015 in the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Belarus the Institute was attended by the ICDO Secretary-General Mr.Vladimir Kuvshinov and Director of the International Cooperation Department of the ICDO Permanent Secretariat Ms.Saltanat Tashmatova.
In 2019 cooperation with the ICDO has been effectively continuing. In October 05-19, 2019 the Institute had performed training of 14 ICDO representatives on “First aid in radiological and chemical emergencies” training program. They were from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Malaysia, UAE, Oman, Russia, and Saudi Arabia.
On September 28, 2023, as part of the first meeting of the scientific and educational committee of the IСDO, members of foreign delegations got acquainted with the educational and material base and educational opportunities of the IRTcentre. The representatives of higher educational institutions engaged in the training of civil protection specialists from Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, and UAE watched with interest practical exercises on responding to incidents involving hazardous chemicals and radioactive substances of the cadets of the branch Institute for Retraining and Professional Development University of Civil Defence MES Belarus.
