On February 10-12, 2020 seven representatives of the Liepaja international airport LLC (Latvia) passed training on the program “Pressure-fed fuel fire drills. Human performance including team coordination (for airports of category 7)” at the IRTcentre. At the training ground the trainees practically worked out the following questions: evacuation of passengers and crew members from the aircraft, safe fire extinguishing of the aircraft power plant with fuel flowing out under pressure, work in breathing apparatus in heat chamber, common international distress signals and others. Since 2007, 358 people from ten different Latvian organizations have been trained at the Center. This is the fourth place among 61 countries.

A group of Latvian fire-fighters from Ventspils nafta terminals (VNT) passed training at the iRT centre on the program “Fire-fighting at oil, oil products and gas storage objects” from 29 October to 02 November, 2018. Latvian colleagues showed a great psychological and physical readiness for fire-fighting in case of emergencies. Cooperation with VNT started in 2012 and is successfully continuing.

Six representatives of Liepaja International Airport of the Republic of Latvia passed practical training on the operative-tactics field of the Centre according to the program “Pressure-fed fuel fire drills. Human performance, including team coordination”. This is the second group of airport experts from Latvia, which have been trained on this program in 2018.

In February 18-20, 2019 six trainees from Liepaja international airport (Latvia) passed annual training on the program “Pressure-fed fuel fire drills. Human performance, including team coordination”. Liepaja airport Management chooses IRTcentre since 2015. Annually it sends the fire-fighting team for training in conditions very close to real. The trainees highly appreciate the organized courses.

Liepaja International Airport representatives (Latvia) annually pass practical training on the Centre’s special aircraft facilities to improve their skills on fire-extinguishing on board the plane. In February 5-7, 2018 6 representatives of the team memorized their theoretical knowledge and successfully used it during practice.

Such skills as work in conditions unsuitable for breathing, invisible area and high temperature were worked out at specific facilities. This kind of training is very useful for fire-fighters working at airports.
