Joint special exercises of rescue units of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states "Skala-2023" were held on the territory of the Republic of Belarus in the period from September 1 to 06, 2023.
Elimination of the consequences of a radiation accident that occurred during the joint operation of the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO became the main theme of the exercises.
Within the framework of this event, various introductory exercises were worked out, which, aimed at improving the efficiency of interaction between rescue units of the CSTO member states.
On September 05, the active phase of the exercise took place on the IRTcentre operational and tactical training field. Belarusian rescuers together with colleagues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in the demonstration part of the exercise. The participants worked out various scenarios of emergency situations and carried out a complex of emergency rescue measures at 12 training sites: the fire of the building as a result of the explosion of the transformer substation; carrying out rescue operations at altitude; carrying out rescue operations and fire extinguishing in the areas of collapsed building items; suppression of attempts to transport dangerous radioactive substances; fire extinguishing at an oil refinery (rectification column); extinguishing forest fires with the use of aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations; elimination of the plane crash consequences and an emergency landing of an aircraft and others.
In total, over 380 people and 94 pieces of equipment took part in the demonstration part of the exercise.
The course of the exercises was observed by the heads of the rescue organizations of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Russia, members of the Coordinating Council for Emergency Situations of the CSTO member states, State Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Volfovich, Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Valery Semerikov, First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Leonid Anfimov, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Nguyen Van Long, and also representative of the Embassy of Armenia.
